From its very first competition held way back in 1985 in Tokyo, the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships will again be held in Australia for another spectacular water sports event this year.
After Sydney last hosted it in 1999, Australia will once again have Pan Pacific Swimming Championships on the beautiful island of Gold Coast and bring together the world’ most brilliant and competitive and brilliant international swimmers. Among the 30 athletes that made it on the list to compete for the 2014 Hancock Prospecting Pan Pacific Championships are Emily Seebohm, who achieved the "A" standards at the Australian National Championships held earlier this year, and Cate Campbell who on gold in the both the 50 m and 100 m freestyle events at the 2013 Australian Swimming Championships.
Christian Sprenger, who bagged home silver in the 100m breaststroke at the 2012 London Olympics and David McKeon in the Men's 400 metre freestyle.
The Pan Pacific Swimming Championships is organised under the oversight of the Pan Pacific Swimming Association. Established in the mid-1980s, the association is made up of the four founding swimming federations including Swimming Australia, Swimming Canada, the Japan Amateur Swimming Federation and USA Swimming.
